Hello Ropers,

I hope everyone is doing well.  It has been kind of hectic around here with all that has taken place in the last month!  Tyler is doing great, he does exactly what a newborn is supposed to do… eat, sleep and fill his diaper full!!  Tracy hasn’t been getting much sleep because he eats about every hour and a half on the dot.  I want to thank everyone for the emails and phone calls that we received.  It means a lot to the both of us to know that people care.

There are some great ropings that have taken place and quite a few just around the corner!  I heard that Jeff Motes had a great roping in Greencove, FL and John Johnson’s Muddy River Classic was also a hit!  The Wildfire Ranch had there open to the world

and if you haven’t heard by now Speedy took first and second at the George Strait!  I would like to say congrats to him, that is a huge accomplishment to win it two years in a row not to mention first and second this year that is a huge task with that caliber ropers!

There are several USTRC ropings East of the MS you will want to make plans to attend.  The TN classic will probably be over with by the time you read this but Ed Allen’s “Alabama Championships” is coming up April 21-23.  His new date is surely to draw a huge crowd.  Ed always does a great job putting on his roping and if you haven’t ever been I encourage you to do so!  Pelzer, South Carolina is also coming up, it is at Frankie McCleer’s circle M ranch.  That facility is second to none, it has all the comforts of home and I hear that the food is unbelievable!  As far as truck ropings go if you didn’t do any good at the Booger Barter roping in Pensacola, FL you have another chance to redeem yourself by attending the Brother N Laws MS Meltdown Tunica April 21st-23rd where they are giving away a truck and lots of cash.  I know I’m missing a few so you need to check out this issue to make sure I didn’t leave anything out!

I want to do a little something different this month.  From time to time we get letters and emails on some of my articles and some of our writers articles.  If you are like me you are tired of hearing about the movie Brokeback Mountain!  I said to myself that I was not going to even acknowledge the movie.  That was my way of giving it the justice it needs!  Last month we decided to print an article a good friend of mine, Bob Phillips, wrote in his cross ropers column.  I knew I would catch some flack for it but just the same it is Bob’s opinion and his opinion stems from a Bible based belief that he and several others including myself tend to believe.  Now before anyone gets there dander up I want you to understand that I know sin is sin!  I do want to ad that as Christians it is our duty to Love and pray for everyone because we are all sinners! As Bob pointed out in his column, we all fall short of the glory of God!  As Jesus tells us to take notice of the log in our eye before we look to see the thorn in our neighbor’s eye! Never the less it is disheartening at the least to see a movie such as this get the attention it did.  I guess now I’m guilty of contributing… I should have known that I would eat crow!

So here is a letter that one of our subscribers sent in, if you have any questions or comments please feel free to write or email.

“Thank you Bob Phillips for your article on “Brokeback Mt.” No one in my household went to see the movie. God Bless you for standing up for your belief of God and being a cowboy.”

Hope to see you all soon!

God Bless
